Shelley Executive Director DIVISION OF DRINKING WATER Nathan Lunstad P.E. Director August 6, 2024 Brian Hunnings Red Cliffs Partners LLC Mile Post 14 HWY 128 Moab, UT 84532 Subject: Notice of Increased Monitoring Requirements for Red Cliff Partners LLC, UTAH10037 Brian Hunnings: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, Red Cliffs Partners LLC was recently reclassified as a non-transient non-community water system. As a non-transient non-community water system, the water system is required to comply with additional water quality standards listed in R309-200. This letter serves as notification of the increased source monitoring requirements associated with this change. Pursuant to R309-205, non-transient non community water systems shall collect samples for five different chemical classes (inorganics and metals, nitrate, sulfate sodium TDS, pesticides and volatile organics) at a location which represents source water after it has undergone treatment, prior to entry into the distribution system. Additionally, R309-215-6(2) requires that additional samples be collected for the parameters for which treatment has been installed. It is the Divisions understanding that due to the elevated levels of TDS and Sulfate present in the Red Cliffs Well 2 (WS002) that one water softener (identified as ‘Well House Softener’ (TP001)) and five point use reverse osmosis (RO) devices have been installed. Well House Softener To prevent Red Cliffs Partners LLC from having to collect a sample for each chemical class at each point of use RO device, the monitoring requirements for inorganics and metals, nitrate, pesticides and volatile organics have been applied to the Well House Softener (TP001). Please collect the samples listed in the table below immediately downstream of the Well House Softener (TP001) and label samples collected from this location as TP001 for both the facility and sample point ID on all laboratory paperwork. Brian Hunnings Page 2 of 2 August 6, 2024 Volatile Organics and Pesticides A sample for volatile organics and pesticides is required by September 30, 2024. If the results show no detections in either chemical group, the sample frequencies may be reduced to one volatile organics sample per year and one pesticide sample every three years. Point of Use R.O. Devices To ensure that the efficacy of each point of use RO device is evaluated annually, one sample for sulfate sodium and TDS is now required each year from the Winery R.O (TP002), Lodge R.O. (TP003), Queens R.O. (TP004), Kings R.O. (TP005) and the Cabins R.O. (TP006). These monitoring requirements described above are presented below and can be found anytime at waterlink.utah.gov.
