A SMP developed by Varian (DSHW-2018-004829) was approved in 2018. An environmental covenant
(EC) was recorded for the portion of the impacted lands which is owned by Varex in 2024 (DSHW-2024-
006128). The activity and use limitations are specified for the property in the SMP and EC.
FIELD OBSERVATIONS:

At the time of the site visit, the property was currently used for manufacturing x-ray tubes by Varex
Imaging. It is not anticipated the industrial land use condition will be changed in a foreseeable future at
the site.

Corrective actions and monitoring have been conducted at the site since late 1990s under oversight of the
Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control. Various soil and groundwater remediations are
still on-going at the site.

Groundwater remediation and monitoring are ongoing at the site. Assessment of vapor intrusion risk is
being conducted. Air samples will be recollected in September 2024.

SITE VISIT CONCLUSIONS

RECOMMENDATIONS

The Division is conducting oversight of annual groundwater monitoring, active remediation and other
sampling activities at the site. The land use condition is also confirmed by Division oversight of the site.
