Re: No Further Action, Leaking Petroleum Storage Tank Release
Pearson Tire, located at 640 South Main Street, Richfield, Utah
Facility Identification No. 2000127, Release Site FBK
Dear Mr. Nelson:
The file for this release has been reviewed by the Division of Environmental Response and
Remediation (DERR) project manager who has recommended that no further corrective action be
taken at this time. This no further action applies only to the specific Release Site FBK. This
recommendation is based on the information contained in the file for this release. That information
was supplied by you, your consultant, and/or DERR representatives.
The information submitted indicates that petroleum contamination of soil and groundwater
remains from this release. The contamination is at 9 to 10.5 feet below grade, at locations beneath
and adjacent to Cove View Road and is not currently considered a threat to human health or the
environment according to Utah Admin. Code R311-211. This evaluation is based on current land
usage, exposure pathways, potential receptors and other site-specific risk characteristics. In the
future, if changes to these characteristics create a threat to human health or the environment,
additional corrective action may be required.
Due to the nature and location of the contamination that has been left in place, the DERR is
utilizing Blue Stakes of Utah to receive notification when excavators may be digging within the
contaminated areas. The DERR will provide the attached flyer to excavators when notification is
received from Blue Stakes.
