Postings and Fencing: The inspector observed the fencing, gates and postings around the restricted area of the site. For this inspection, the Inspector observed the Northeast section of the Restricted area. Fencing around the restricted area was observed to be in good repair. The inspector observed that the main access gate had chains, locks and postings on it. The fence around the restricted area had radiological postings which read “Caution Radioactive Material”. The inspector took dose rate measurements at random locations along the perimeter fence line and the main access gate. The dose rate measurements along the fences line and inside the restricted area ranged between 5 to 20 µrem/hr. Deficiencies: None Findings:None Other: On June 13, 2024, Adam Wingate, Ryan Johnson, Dean Henderson and Chris Leahy of the Division met with representatives from BHP and the U.S. Department of Energy at the Lisbon Valley Mill site. The purpose of this meeting was to participate in a site tour and to discuss current conditions of the former Uranium Mill facility.
