INCIDENT SUMMARY
Caller reported a leak was discovered this morning from an above-ground storage tank's main pipeline which is 30-40 years old and eroded. The
leak occurred sometime between Sunday and this morning near the northeast corner of the intersection, northeast of the Intermountain Power
Service Corp Administrative building parking lot. Approximately 1,100 gallons of diesel fuel breached the cement containment area and ran
into a ditch. Soil was impacted but no storm drains or water bodies were impacted.
Intermountain Power Service Corp's cleanup company applied absorbent to the spill and used a vac truck to vacuum up the diesel. Once
residual diesel is dry, they will excavate the contaminated soil for disposal. The caller notified the NRC at 0952 MDT today prior to notifying
the DEQ spills hotline. NRC Report # 1404074.

Here is what I have gotten from them. From looking on Google maps all the lines run through trenches. So it makes it an
unregulated site. Facility Id is 2000075.
Let me know if I can help you out in any other way.
Thank you,

Hi Phil, How are you doing today? I am contac ng you as requested with informa on regarding our spill of Fuel Oil (#2
diesel) that was discovered this morning. A ached are a few photos of the incident as well as the Environmental
Incident Report that was received from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality Division of Environmental
Response and Remedia on.
At 6:00 this morning Monday July 8, 2024 one of the IPSC supervisors no ced that there was fuel oil in the ditch at
the North East Corner of the Amin Parking Lot where the Fuel Oil line Crosses the Road. Most of the Fuel Oil Line is
contained in an above ground containment trench. The spill onto the dirt ditch occurred some me over the weekend
when the concrete containment trench was breached and leaked fuel oil down into the ditch.
The IPSC Environmental group was no fied around 7:15 of the spill and immediately went out to inspect the situa on
and gather informa on and the quan ty of the release. It is es mate that 1,100 gallons were released onto the
ground. As soon as a quan ty was es mated the environmental group verified the quan ty with the opera ons and
Maintenance group in a mee ng at 9:30. From there the Na onal Response Center, Utah State Emergency Response
and Millard County Sherriff ’s office were no fied of the spill.
Since the release was found IPSC has used a vacuum truck and other absorbent pads to clean the residual fuel oil.
IPSC plans to excavate all contaminated soil. Soil will be sampled for hazardous material so it can be disposed of
properly. If there are any further ques ons you would like to have answered let me know and I will be more than
happy to answer them.
Thank You,
