Dear Regional Administrator:
As required by 40 CFR 262.42, Nucor Steel — Utah is filing this exception report for manifests for which
Nucor, as the generator did not receive a copy of the manifests with the handwritten signature of the
designated facility within 45 days of the date when the waste was accepted by the initial transporter.
Manifest numbers 20527019 and 20527020 were accepted for transport by Union Pacific Railroad on
April 06, 2020. The designated facility was American Zinc Recycling Corporation (AZR) in Rockwood
Tennessee.
As required, Nucor Steel — Utah contacted AZR to inquire about the open manifests and status of the
railcars early May 2020, then again on May 18, 2020. Upon investigation by AZR they determined that
these cars had been receive on Thursday, May 14, 2020. We were advised that we should get the signed
manifests that day, per e-mail response. Another inquiry was sent today.
