During a routine inspection of the water tank on 7/4/2024, it was discovered that the lock on the lid of the water storage tank had been tampered with. What is being done? As soon asthe security breach was discovered, emergency response procedures were implemented, including 1. notification of the Kane County Sherrif’s office, 2. public notification via Facebook, emergency text messages and direct phone calls and 3. emergency water sampling. Bacteriological samples have been sent to the lab and additional water quality samples are being taken. The service district is providing bottled water which is available at the service building. What should I do?DO NOT DRINK THE WATER! Because the type of contamination is currently unknown, residents are advised to not drink the water until further notice. This warning will be lifted after satisfactory sample results are received from the lab.Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly and people with severely compromisedimmune systems.The symptoms above are not caused only by organisms in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice. People at increased risk should seek advice about drinking water from their health careproviders. We will inform you when you no longer need to boil your water.
