Solvents and laboratory waste were potentially released into both SWMUs from two historic buildings that were used to develop various chemicals for rocket propulsion. Observed drilling to and collection of soil samples from ground surface to eight feet below ground surface (bgs). Soil appeared to be interbedded gravel with silt and clay. Soil is being analyzed for VOCs, RCRA 8 metals, perchlorate, and explosives. The drilling contractor was RMEC Environmental, Inc. while Tim Jimenez of Northrop Grumman was the sampler and performed driller oversight. The drill rig was able to access the pond furthest away from the historic buildings. The pond closest was more difficult to access. The drillers were going to attempt to access the pond before the end of the day. No issues with sampling were observed during the Site visit.
