Re: Interinn Corrective Measure for Remediation of the Fluorine Station (SA-5)
My staff has reviewed your August 30, 1993 submittal which supplied the details
of the proposed interim corrective measure for the Fluorine Station (SA-5). The
review has determined that the proposal meets the requirements of an interim
corrective measure as it is defined in paragraph 20(a) of Stipulation and Consent
Order No. 8606396 and is hereby approved.
Please be advised that in addition Hercules will need to comply with paragraph 32
of Stipulation and Consent Order No 8606396. Please prepare a public notice for
publication in the local area newspapers. The public notice should, at a minimum,
be published in the Salt Lake Tribune and the Desert News prior to the start of the
interim measure. Jhe public notice should identify that this operation is an interim
measure for remediation of the Fluorine Station (SA-5), the anticipated time frame
(i.e., the starting date and ending date) and who can be contacted for additional
information. The public notice will need to include a TDD number to comply with
the American Disabilities Act.
In addition to the public notice please make a Fact Sheet about the interim
corrective measure and send it to the local police and fire departments, Salt Lake
City\County Health Department, local communities councils and all applicable State
Agencies. It may be necessary for you to provide additional information to some
of these agencies or organizations.
