The reports cover sampling and analytical information from the first through the fourth quarter. The reports present analytical and water level data from 74 monitoring wells on Hercules property and 2 wells located north of the Bacchus Works on private properties. Samples were collected between February 10, 1993 through March 25, 1993 for first quarter, May 12, 1993 through June 3, 1993 for second quarter, August 2, 1993 through September 16, 1993 for third quarter and October 18, 1993 through November 10, 1993 for fourth quarter. The wells continue to be presented in separate groundwater flow areas beneath the plant. Hercules feels the flow area definition better characterizes the groundwater flow patterns, eliminates the confusion and misunderstanding resulting from the original designation of waste management areas (WMA) and allows for an overall evaluation of contaminant effects that SWMUs might have in their respective flow areas. Hercules has always desired to complete the quarterly reports as soon as possible after each quarterly sampling round and submit each report to the State in a reasonable time frame, however 1993 personnel layoffs and retraining requirements have caused an obvious delay in completing the reports in a timely fashion. The reasons for the delays experienced in 1993 have been abated, therefore every attempt will be made to submit the reports to the State in a reasonable time after each sampling round in 1994.
