Dear Mr. Anderson:
Re: Hercules Aerospace Company, Bacchus Works
Variance Request of the Groundwater Sampling Protocol
This letter is to notify you that your request of June 19, 1991
is hereby granted. Monitoring well GW-19 can be added to the
list of wells effected by decreasing water levels and slow
recovery times, that list already includes GW-20, 21, 24, 27, 30,
31, 34, 36, and 55. GW-19 will also be sampled for the modified
set of analytes (volatile organics and field measurements of pH,
electrical conductivity and temperature) applied to the list.
Please be advised that the decreasing water levels could be
affecting the adequacy of the groundwater monitoring system at
the Bacchus Works. It may become necessary to install additional
groundwater monitoring wells, to replace those affected by the
decreasing water levels and slowed recovery times. This issue
will be evaluated as a component of the Comprehensive Monitoring
Evaluation that is currently being done for the Bacchus Works.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please direct
them to Bill Wallner at 538-6170.
Sincerely,
Dennis R. DoWr/s,' Executive Secretary,
Utah Solid and Hazardous Wastes Committee
