Re: Response to Part B Permit Application Notice of Deficiency
Dear Mr. Bradford:
Enclosed is Hercules' response to the Notice of Deficiency for our Part B
permit application. The response is structured in two parts. The first part
is an item by item response to comments. This is followed by replacement
pages to the application submitted in November 1987 that incorporate the
necessary revisions.
While this response was being prepared, a Part B permit application that
addresses the requirements for open burning units was submitted. Because the
review time for that November, 1988 submittal is expected to be lengthy, the
revisions made in this response are to the document Hercules submitted in
November, 1987 and that your staff has reviewed. Once the permit is issued,
necessary revisions to the November, 1988 document will be made.

Hercules intends to request a major modification of our permit early next
summer to cover additional hazardous waste activities. It will greatly
simplify the situation for both of our offices if the remaining issues for the
current permit application are resolved before that time. If there are any
questions regarding this matter, please contact Susan Jew, of my staff, at
251-4748.
