NOTICE ATK Launch Systems Promontory Hazardous Waste Storage and Treatment Permit Renewal UTD009081357

The Director of the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control is seeking public comment on an application from ATK Launch Systems to renew its Hazardous Waste Storage and Treatment Permit for its Promontory facility. The permit application is available for review by the public.
The primary manufacturing operations at ATK Launch Systems include the production and testing of
solid rocket motor propellant and the assembly of motor components and segments. The permit governs the management of hazardous waste storage and treatment operations at the Promontory facility. Hazardous waste, as defined by R315-261 of the Utah Administrative Code, is generated and stored at the facility in containers prior to being shipped off-site for treatment and/or disposal. Reactive
hazardous waste is treated on-site by open burning or open detonation. The permit also includes
requirements for closure of waste management facilities and financial assurance. The permit application can be reviewed at the following locations:
