Dear Mr. Anderson:
As required by permit, ATK Launch Systems, Inc. (ATK) is submitting the annual waste minimization
certification for activities occurring during calendar year 2016. Waste minimization efforts resulted in a
9,300 pound reduction in open burning energetic wastes. This reduction resulted from a combination of
manufacturing process and cleaning process improvements. In addition to efforts to reduce open burning,
the following materials were recycled during 2016:
•Ammonium Perchlorate 332,200 lb.
•Spent Acid 370,651 lb.
•Used Oil 46,658 lb.
•Lamps 3,028 lb.
•Batteries 33,028 lb.
•Paper 38,800 lb.
•Cardboard 107,420 lb.
•Wood 530 yd3
ATK will continue to seek for additional process improvements to reduce the amount and toxicity of
