He is "comfortable" with the compounds that Steve has compiled in Table 1, so we look good there. He did recommend reminding you that "the Protocol indicotes thot "surrogate compounds will be used to represent those compounds based on toxicological properties ond structural similarities." Thus, in reviewing the HHRA report, we will be looking for a discussion in the uncertointy Section of the tox properties and structural similarities (compared to the replaced compounds)for eoch identified surrogote." lf you would make the changes Mike recommended in his two comments (in previous email) to the memo and resubmit it to us (by email) we'll approve it as a revision to the approved HHRA Protocol. We'll then scan these documents to add them to the public record. Please let me know if you have any questions. I believe we willjust have ATK make the changes you suggested in your two comments to the memo and resubmit it by email. We'll then approve it as a revision to the approved HHRA protocol (assuming they make the changes) and then scan the documents to add them to the public record. Thanks a lot Mike! We1l be in touch. I examined 9 of the 17 in some detail the matches with respect to structure, toxicity, and mode of action looked OK. I would still remind Blair that the Protocol indicates that "surrogate compounds will be used to represent those compounds based on toxicological properties and structural similarities." Thus, in reviewing the HHRA report, we will be looking for a discussion in the Uncertainty Section of the tox properties and structural similarities (compared to the replaced compounds)for each identified surrogate. Also, l've got a question for you. First, the issues: 1. l'd like any documentation related to the revision of AIEC values to reference the hierarchy in the "approved" version of the protocol (Section 4.4) and then indicate that values other than the CAL RELs are taken from Table 2: PAC Rev 27. Steve's memo mentions the CAL RELs as the number 1 source but jumps right to Table 2: PAC Rev 27 without mentioning the hierarchy. My spot checks indicate this does not impact any of the numbers listed in Steve's Table 2. AEGL-1's (2nd best source according to the hierarchylappear to be used where they are available. 2. There is one chemical in Steve's Table 2 for which I found an acute CAL REL (preferred source according to the hierarchy): methyl bromide @ 3900 ug/m3. Now my questions for you. I have not checked Steve's Table 1 to see if TechLaw agrees on the surrogates ATK Promontory has identified. I have checked the tox numbers on the identified in Steve's Table 1 and none of them are CAL RELs or AEGL-1s so they are from further down the hierarchy. Let me know if you'd like me to check the identifies. I think it would be better to do it now rather than.wait for the report to be submitted. However, Eric may prefer to do it rather than Techlaw. Let me know what you'd like to do. lt will take me a few hours to check them all. l'll be in after 1 PM EST if you'd like to discuss. Could you please take a look at these and see what you think? Also, Brad was asking about who at Techlaw would be involved in the review of the OB/OD HHRA that is due December 15th. I told him I want sure. Do you know?
