Re: Five-Year Permit Anniversary Closure Cost Estimate; Closure Notice for Buildings M-47 and M-
603; ATK Launch Systems Inc., Promontory; UTD009081357
Dear Mr. Anderson:
Promontory permit module II.P.3 requires that ATK Launch Systems Inc. (ATK) conduct a detailed
evaluation of the closure cost estimates for the regulated unit, and determine if the annual adjustments for
inflation have been adequate to update the closure cost estimates. A detailed cost estimate has been
completed, and is attached. The closure cost is currently estimated at $692,109 compared to $670,383
reported in our May 2014 annual update.
Permit Module II.0.4 requires that ATK notify the Director prior to closing a facility. This
correspondence also serves notice of ATK's intent to close buildings M-47 and M-603. We are unable to
use these facilities for storage, and ATK will work with the Division to close them and replace them with a
single building which will be identified at a later date.
ATK will work with the Division to update Attachment 5, Closure Plan and Financial Requirements, to
reflect the updated cost estimate along with finalizing the closure plans for the storage facilities and
updating our insurance policies for closure costs. Please refer questions on this correspondence to Blah-
