The Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste has completed its review of ATK’s Spring 2011 Groundwater Monitoring Plan and has communicated with your staff on the list of wells that will
be sampled this spring. The list of wells that ATK has proposed to sample appears adequate for monitoring the major source area at M-136 and the down-gradient perimeter of the contamination
plume.

The Division is currently evaluating the investigation of three SWMUs located at the north end of the facility at Buildings E-515, E-519 and M-585 (SWMUs #326, #503 and #227 respectively).
These SWMUs are located near the northern regional source area at M-508 and the northern perched zone source area at M-585. To assist with the investigation of these SWMUs, the Division
has requested that certain northern area wells be added to the monitoring list for the spring of 2011. In response, ATK has agreed that wells P-1, P-2, P-6, P-7, P-8, P-9 and M508-2
will be added to the monitoring list. The Division agrees that wells G-7 and G-8 can be removed from the spring sampling plan.

In accordance with Post-Closure Permit Condition IV.B.3, ATK’s monitoring plan for spring 2011 with the changes as discussed above is hereby approved. Thank you for your cooperation.
