Box 144880 Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-4880 Dear Mr. Anderson, Subject: Waste Minimization Certification Submission for Calendar Year 2011; ATK Launch Systems Promontory, EPA ID No. UTD009081357: ATK Launch Systems Bacchus, EPA ID No. UTDOO 1705029; ATK Launch Systems Bacchus Facility-NIROP, EPA ID No. UT3170027277 ATK Launch Systems, Inc. (ATK) is required by Hazardous Waste Storage Permit requirements to submit an annual certification that the Permittee has a waste minimization program in place to reduce the volume and toxicity of hazardous waste generated to the degree determined by the permittee to be economically practicable; and that the proposed method of treatment, storage, or disposal is the most practicable method currently available to the Permittee which minimizes the present and future threat to human health and the environment. ATK has a program in place which measures and reports both the quantity and cost for generating and disposing waste at the facility. This information is shared with employees, which includes executive management, to ensure proper management policies are implemented and followed. The methods of treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous wastes are continuously monitored and evaluated to ensure present and future threats to. human health and the environment are minimized. Routine internal audits are conducted to ensure compliance with permit requirements. We also continue to work with the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste to complete the open buming risk assessment for our Promontory facility which will help ensure the current method of treatment will present an acceptable risk to human health and the environment. / certify under penalty of law that this document and all attachments were prepared under my direction or supervision in accordance with a system designed to assure that qualified personnel properly gather and evaluate the information submitted.
