The 'W indicates a water matrix. Samples that are water soluble liquids (or aqueous phase) fit into this
category. Non-aqueous liquids are usually treated as solids depending on the test method. In the case of an
oil matrix that cannot be analyzed by the solid preparation method, a waste dilution is often performed.
The 'S" indicates a solid matrix.
Mercury will be prepared using Method 7470A.
