HomeMy WebLinkAboutDSHW-2010-056168 - 0901a06880274a24December 2, 2010 UTAH DIVISION OF SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE PUBLIC INFORMATION The ATK Launch Systems – Promontory facility submitted to the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste (DSHW) a Class 3 modification (10.01569) for its hazardous waste Part B permit on May 3, 2010. The Permittee requested to add treatment of hazardous waste by open burning and open detonation to the Part B permit; remove treatment of waste solid rocket motors by disassembly; add a new storage site for solid hazardous waste; add and adjust Closure Plans for the new and existing hazardous waste management units and modify permit conditions as appropriate to accommodate the proposed changes. Following the 60-day public comment period and an information meeting held by ATK Launch Systems, the DSHW held a hearing and a 45-day public comment period for the draft approval. Public comments were received from the public and ATK. Minor changes, based on some of these comments, were made to the draft permit modification. The modification was approved on September 30, 2010.
