NOTICE
The Executive Secre-tary of the Utah Solid and Hazardous Waste Control Board has is-sued an emergency hazardous waste treat-ment permit .(# UT-017-2008) to the ATK Launch Systems Promontory facility. This permit was issued so that ATK personnel could treat, in accor-dance with the Utah Hazardous Waste Man-agement Rules, mortars that are potentially damaged by testing procedures conducted at the site. The permit is effective on May 20, 2008 and, expires on-June 19, 2008. Utah Administrative • Rules al-low application for an emergency permit if an imminent and substantial endangerment to human health or the environ-ment is present. ATK personnel requested an emergency permit • to treat mortars in place at the Promontory fa-cility by open detona-tion based on the de-termination that mortars that do nol detonate are unsafe to move due to the potential damage sustained from Ihe testing procedure.
