RE: 2007 Groundwater Monitoring Plan
ATK Launch Systems - Promontory Facility, EPA I.D. #UTD009081357
Dear Mr. Gosen:
The Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste (the Division) has completed its review of ATK’s Groundwater Monitoring Plan for 2007. With a few exceptions, the Division is in agreement
with ATK on the list of wells and springs to sample this year. The Division requests that ATK add three samples to the list as described below.
For well X-5, please collect a sample in the fall sampling event in addition to this spring, as proposed by ATK. Since the well was recently completed, and no data exists for it, several
results will be needed to confirm the analytical results that are obtained this spring.
Apparently, ATK obtained some mixed results for samples collected at Fork and Connor Springs in the fall of 2006. It appears that additional data is needed from these sources to help
clarify last year’s results. Please collect samples from these two springs this spring in addition to next fall as proposed by ATK, so that enough data exists to confirm the true concentration
at these sources.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Jeff Vandel at 538-9413.
Sincerely,
