Therefore, ATK Thiokol is giving the State 45 days advance notice of our intent to close the following buildings: M-107, S-616, and M- 340. The closure plans for these buildings are identical, and require sweeping the floor, visual inspection, then additional work only if signs of propellant contamination exists. It also includes a closure certification requirement, by a professional engineer. These buildings have, and will continue to store non-waste motors. Of these three buildings, only S-616 has been used to store waste rocket motors (Sprint Motors). Since these motors are solid structures, we believe no contamination has occurred, and request a waiver from the requirements to have aPE certified closure. We believe after the State's inspection of these buildings, you will be confident that no additional work is needed to clean close these buildings. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to schedule an inspection of these buildings. I can be reached at (435) 863-2018, or you may contact Gene Curtis at (435) 863-4479.
