Subject: Hazardous Waste Management Units (HWMU) M114 and M508
Hazardous Waste Management Units (HWMU) M39 and M636
ATK Thiokol Propulsion - Promontory Facility, # UTD009081357
ATK Thiokol Propulsion has received two letters from the Utah Division of Solid and
Hazardous Waste (DSHW) dated 25 July 2003, concerning closure of hazardous
waste management units Ml 14, 508, M39, and M636. These letters request that we
submit to the DSHW within 30 days various plans and schedules concerning work
which must still be completed for the closure of these units. Because the requests
are complex, and we do not fully understand all the issues described, if possible, we
would like to meet with your staff: Brad Maulding, David Larsen, Jeff Vandel and
Chris Bitner prior to completing our response. Staff schedules (vacations) have
delayed this meeting to date, but hope to meet this week. Thiokol requests a 60 day
extension in time to complete the tasks outlined in your letters.
