Permit Renewal Request
Dear Mr. Thompson:
On April 2, 1997, the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste (the Division) received a request from
Thiokol to renew its Research, Development and Demonstration (RD&D) Permit for the Solid
Rocket Motor Disposal Facility. The permit was originally issued on June 16, 1994 for the period
of one year, and was renewed for an additional year on June 20, 1995, and again on June 17, 1996.
The Division acknowledges that an updated closure cost estimate was submitted with the permit
renewal request, and that the Financial Assurance Mechanism for the facility was updated last
