SUBJECT: Excavation of SoU from SWMU #367 and #425 for CAMU
Remediation

On July 11, 1997, a letter was sent from the Division to Thiokol granting approval for
remediation of soils at SWMUs #367 and #425 by designation of a CAMU. One condition of the
approved CAMU plan states that the Division would be notified 10-days in advance of
construction, sampling or remediation activities. On September 9, 1997 notice of Thiokol's intent
to begin excavation ofthe contaminated soil on September 22, 1997 was given over the telephone
by Frank Walker of Thiokol's environmental section.
