HomeMy WebLinkAboutDSHW-1996-003763 - 0901a068801566ddFILE copr NOTICE On June 15, 1994 the Utah Solid and Hazardous Waste Control Board issued a Utah Hazardous Waste Research, Development, and Demonstration (RD&D) Permit to Thiokol Corporation [Permittee] for the storage and ti-eatment of solid rocket motors at their facility located in Box Elder County, Utah. This permit allowed the Permittee to operate this facility for one year upon issuance of this permit. Thiokol Corporation renewed this RD&D pennit for one year commencing June 16, 1995. Thiokol Corporation has submitted a subsequent request to renew this permit for the period of one additional year. This one-year period would commence June 17, 1996. The Permittee's application has been reviewed by the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste and found to be acceptable. The Utah Solid and Hazardous Wastes Act requires a public comment period prior to approval of a permit by the Utah Solid and Hazardous Waste Control Board. The current rules provide the general public an opportunity to be notified and participate in the permit process. All conditions of the pemiit are subject to the public comment period and hearing. The public comment period will commence on May 1, 1996, when the public notice is published in the Box Elder News and Joumal. The Herald Joumal, Salt Lake Tribune, and the Deseret News, and will end on May 31, 1996, at 5:00 p.m. MST. A public information meeting will be held the evening of May 11, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the Brigham City Library located at 26 East Forest, Brigham City, Utah. A public hearing will be held the aftemoon of May 8, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the Brigham City Library located at 26 East Forest, Brigham City, Utah. Copies of the RD&D Permit are available for public review and inspection between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:(X) p.m., Monday through Friday during the comment period at the following offices: Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste Brigham City Library Bear River District Martha Hughes Cannon Health Bldg, 26 East Forest Health Department 4th Floor Brigham City, Utah 655 East 1300 North 288 North 1460 West Logan, Utah Salt Lake City, Utah Written comments must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 31, 1996 and addressed to: Dennis R. In compliance with the American with Disabilities Act, individuals needing special accommodations (including auxiliary communicative aids and services) during the hearings should notify the Department ofEnvironmental Quality, Bureau of Human Resources at 168 North 1950 West, 536- 4414, at least three working days prior to the hearing.
