Dear Mr. Downs
SUBJECT: Thiokol Corporation, EPA # UTD00981357, Discontinuation of Part B
Inspections at E-501 Storage Pad During Non-use
E-501 is included in our Part B permit for storage of hazardous waste. Thiokol's
business base has decreased since our permit was obtained which has significantiy
reduced our hazardous waste volume at the Promontory facility. This reduced volume
h9« eUminated the need for the E-501 storage pad at this time. We anticipate increased
contracts in the future which could necessitate the need for E-501 once again.
Thiokol Corporation requests approval to discontinue inspections at this storage pad
while not in use. Thiokol would repair the facility to bring it within permit standards
prior to use. We would also notify the State 30 days prior to re-use of this pad for the
storage of hazardous waste.
Please let us know if this plan meets with your approval. If you have any questions or
need clarification, please contact Gene Curtis at (801) 863-4479.
Sincerely
7y^
