Re: Request for Extension of Time to Complete Closure
Dear Mr. Thompson:
The Division has received your letter dated May 26, 1995, requesting a 90-day extension to the
180-day closure period for M-39, M-114, and M-636 Photographic Waste sites. The current
closure period expires on June 20, 1995.
The Division understands that weather considerations may have caused some delay in completion
of this project. However, Thiokol did not effectively use the closure time to implement the
approved plan; rather it sought other means of disposal than specified in the approved closure
plan.
Your request for a 90-day extension to the closure period is hereby granted. This approval
comes with the stipulation that Thiokol will act to immediately begin excavation of these sites
and work to get the waste off site expediently.
