MEMORANDUM TO: Duane Mortensen, Manager Federal Facilities Section DERR THROUGH: Brad Maulding, Manager ^^ Hazardous Waste Facilities Section DSHW FROM: Otis Willoughby ^/(.^^ Environmental Scientist DSHW DATE: August 17, 1995 SUBJECT: U.S. Air Force Plant 78^ As we talked about previously, the Air Force is in the process of transfering ownership of Plant 78 to Thiokol Corporation: This site is adjacent to Thiokol property and is currently managed by Thiokol Corporation. The USAF Aeronautical Systems Center, Acquisition Environmental Management (ASC\EM) at Wright-Patterson AFB has prepared a draft Environmental Baseline Survey to list all environmental concems at Plant 78. Table 3-7 within that report listed several sites that fell under the CERCLA authority. It is the position of the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste, that all sites at Plant 78 will remain under RCRA jurisdiction as long as Thiokol remains an active facility. The Division will oversee all hazardous waste management and corrective action at these sites. Printed on recycled paper UTAM
