Confirmation Sampling
During the reactivation sampling Turbidity was determined to be 9NTU at the Bicentennial Well
(WS021). This result requires confirmation sampling in accordance with R309-205-8. Please
continue to collect an additional two (2) Turbidity samples from the Bicentennial Well (WS021)
by May 30, 2024. Compliance with the Turbidity MCL of 5 NTU will be based on the average of
the initial and three confirmation Turbidity samples.
Additionally, Uranium was found to exceed its MCL of 30 µg/L in two samples collected from
the Palmer Well (WS006). On April 25, 2024 and May 6, 2024 Uranium was found at levels of
39 µg/L and 31 µg/L respectively. In accordance with R309-205-7, compliance with the
Uranium MCL is based on a running annual average of the total amount of samples collected.
Chlorine Residuals
Additionally, Sandy City is required to monitor the free chlorine residual at the point of entry
(POE) to the distribution system for the Bicentennial Chlorinator + Fluoride (TP021) and the
Palmer Fluoridator + Chlorinator (TP015) at least three times per week. The system must also
complete monthly operational reports for each reactivated chlorinator. Please direct any
questions regarding disinfection monitoring to Luke Treutel at ltreutel@utah.gov or (385)
258-6084.
Please contact David Kruse at (385)-566-7789 or dbkruse@utah.gov for questions regarding the
source monitoring and reporting requirements for your water system.
Sincerely,
Mark Berger
