Subject: Notice of Increased Source Monitoring for Garden City; UTAH17002
Mike Leonhardt:
A recent statewide audit was conducted on all source monitoring schedules to ensure conformity
with applicable portions of R309-205.
During the review, the Division of Drinking Water (the Division) found that the Swan Creek
Spring (identified as WS001) is designated as groundwater under the direct influence of surface
water (UDI) and is treated to surface water standards at the Membrane Plant (TP002).
In accordance with R309-205-4(4), source samples are to be taken at the sources point of entry
into the distribution system after they have undergone treatment, making the Membrane Plant
(TP002) the designated sampling location. Additionally, surface water sources are subject to
more frequent monitoring.
The Membrane Plant (TP002) is now required to be sampled for the following contaminants at
the given frequencies by the listed due dates.
