Director April 30, 2024 Mike Farrar Big Plains Water SSD - Cedar Point 1777 N Meadowlark Dr Apple Valley, UT 84737 Subject: Notice of Violation, Turbidity MCL Exceedance; Big Plains Water SSD - Cedar Point: UTAH27089 Mike Farrar: This letter serves as notification that according to the Division of Drinking Waters (the Division) records, the Jessup Well (identified as WS002 in the Divisions database) and Well No.4 (New Cook Well – WS004) are in exceedance of the state Maximum Contamination Limit (MCL) for Turbidity as defined in Utah administrative Rules Code (UAC) R309-200-5(5). Compliance with the Turbidity of 5 NTU is assessed through confirmation sampling conducted in a thirty-day period. During the month of February 2024 four confirmation samples were collected from the Jessup Well (WS002) and Well No.4 (WS004). The results of the analyses show Turbidity levels of 12 NTU at the Jessup Well (WS002) and 7 NTU at the Well No.4 (WS004). Required Actions by Rule for a Turbidity MCL Exceedance Violation It is the Division’s understanding that Big Plains Water SSD – Cedar Point is pursuing a project which will enable the system to cease use of the sources which exceed the Turbidity and Combined Radium MCLs. Additionally, the system issued public notice on April 23, 2024, to all connections served by the water system. Per R309-220, in 2025 the system must also present MCL exceedance in the annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) while including the Standard Health Effects Language listed in R309- 220-15 for Turbidity along with an explain of the corrective actions being taken.
