A site visit was conducted by J. Paul Wright, P.E., DEQ Southwest District Engineer, on June 5, 2024. A few items still needed to be finished, including installing the required lid on the storage tank and changing the location of the shutoff valve on the well discharge piping. Photos of those fixes were received on Jun 17, 2024. Previously, the Division received the plans and specifications on March 3, 2023. Written plan review comments were submitted to your consultant on March 9, 2023. The Division received revised plans on March 21, 2023. Additional review comments were sent to your consultant on April 5, 2023. Final revised plans were received by the Division on April 19, 2023. The Division issued Plan Approval for this project on May 3, 2023. Water System History and Upgrades Description The Red Canyon RV Park previously had 27 RV pads and 3 camping cabins. This area of the water system is served by the RV Park Well (WS001), the 5,000-gallon tank (ST001) and the RV Park Pressure Tanks (HD001). 195 North 1950 West • Salt Lake City, UT Mailing Address: P.O. Director Jason Tooley Page 2 of 3 June 20, 2024 The new owners of the RV park (Aramark) added a gift shop, will reopen the gas station and convenience store, use the existing residence on the property, and construct 4 apartment trailers to rent out or use for temporary employee training, housing approximately 8 employees. To accommodate this, upgrades to the water system needed to be made. Below is a description of these upgrades: Activate Gas Station Well (WS002) – This existing source was reactivated. A 70 gallon per minute (gpm) submersible pump was installed in the well. The well water will be conveyed to a new building that houses the well discharge piping, a new tank and the hydropneumatic tank and booster station (all described below). To be able to reactivate the well, no source protection updates were necessary as a source water assessment (SWA) was already completed for this water system. Source chemistry was required to be brought up to date with a current nitrate sample and sulfate sample. These results were received by the Division. Activate Gas Station Pressure Tank (HD002) – The pressure tank was updated with a new Amtrol WX350 pressure tank that has 119 gallon capacity. Gas Station Booster Pumps (PF001) - Also, associated with the Gas Station pressure tank will be two Goulds centrifugal pumps that each have the capacity to pump 60 gpm at 140 feet of total dynamic head. These pumps and pressure tank will maintain pressure through this part of the water system. Gas Station Storage Tank (ST003) – This is a Norwesco #40051, 2500-gallon plastic water storage tank that is ANSI/NSF 61 certified. The tank was modified to add an air vent and overflow. The stock lid was replaced with a hinged, no vent lid that is lockable and gasketed. We have received the following information for the Red Canyon RV Park Water System Upgrades including Activate Gas Station Well (WS002), Activate Gas Station Pressure Tank (HD002), Gas Station Booster Pumps (PF001), Gas Station Storage Tank (ST003): 1. Certification of Rule Conformance with plan approval conditions by a professional engineer 2. As-built or record drawings. 3. Satisfactory bacteriological results as evidence of proper disinfection and flushing. 4. Evidence of O&M manual delivery. We have determined that all conditions for operating permit issuance have been met. On this basis, an Operating Permit for the Red Canyon RV Park Water System Upgrades is hereby issued as constituted by this letter. You may now place the Gas Station Well (WS002), Gas Station Pressure Tank (HD002), Gas Station Booster Pumps (PF001), and Gas Station Storage Tank (ST003) in service in your water system. Please maintain a copy of this letter with your permanent records for future reference.
