Anytime visible emissions are detected, the damaged bags are replaced within 24 hours. The kiln is shut down approximately
1.5 - 2.0 hours before replacing the bags. It takes approximately 45 minutes for the existing feed to run through the kiln and
another 45 minutes for the kiln to cool. Startup takes ant=other 1.5 - 2.0 hours. Feed is not reintroduced to the kiln until after
the baghouse has been brought back online.
Because the opacity is monitored daily and because the baghouse is always repaired within 24 hours of observing any visible
emissions, the opacity does not approach l0 o/". A full Method 9 observation is conducted within 24 hours of observing visible
emissions.

2. Permit conditions for which deviation occurred: II.B.3.b
3. Describe the deviation that occurred: At 9:58am emissions greatgr than 10
percent opacity were emitted from the Number 3 stack' This condition existed for
approximatelY 6 minutes-
4. Describe the probable cause of the deviation: A sudden loss of pressure in the
compressed air system caused a bypass of the baghouse'
5. Describe any corrective actions or preventive measures taken: The kiln was shut
down until ;r prrrr*, could be restored. The cause was determined to be moisture
freezing in an air line. Because of the frozen line, air pressure- t9dJ9.bt routed to the bag
house from a different air line. Once air pressure was restored the kiln was restarted'
