The additional investigation was in support of a request for an NFA designation for the facility. The additional investigation focused on total metal analysis and hexavalent chromium (CrVI) to evaluate if any potential source areas still existed at the site after impacted soil removal. Previous site investigations had detected CrVI in groundwater at concentrations in excess of unrestricted water use criterion. As part of this investigation, monitoring wells were installed and sampled to evaluate the effectiveness of impacted soil removal on groundwater quality. Results of a human health and ecological risk assessment conducted using data collected concluded that risks to a future potential resident at the site were acceptable and there were no adverse risks to potential future ecological receptors in accordance with Utah Administrative Code R315-101. Based on the results of the various investigations conducted at the site, the Division concludes that the Terrafirma Facility meets all the requirements necessary for an NFA status. Accordingly, the request for an NFA designation is hereby granted. (Over) If you have any questions, please call Eric Baiden at (801) 536-0216. Sincerely, Scott T.
