Box 144880 Salt Lake City, UT 84114-4880 Dear Mr. Anderson In accordance with section R315-3-6.2, Emergency Permits, we are requesting a Hazardous Waste Emergency Permit to detonate two mortars and TNT explosive material that were found at a campsite near Escalante, UT in Garfield County. The circumstances which necessitate this emergency permit are described below: On 19 April 2018 two military mortars and other TNT explosives were found at a campsite about 7 miles north of Escalante, UT. The Garfield County Sheriff's office contacted Hill AFB EOD and asked for assistance with disposing of the explosives. The mortars and explosives will be detonated in a safe area designated by the Garfield County Sheriff The mortars and explosives are believed to contain approximately 12 oz. of explosive material. C4 explosives will be used to detonate the grenade at approx. 1000 to 1700 hours on 20 April 2018. We received verbal approval from your staff on 19 April 2018.
