This spill incident was immediately called in and reported. The spill occurred when the 1%" hydraulic line separated from the cylinder resulting in 142 gallons of hydraulic oil spilling to the ground in Panel E, pit 51. This spill occurred at approximately 5:30 am. Ackerman Mike Maldonado Was Spill Pool Used: 0 Yes 0 No; Estimated Gallons caught 1 gal Equipment Number 1153 Description and cause of spill: A Mine operator was operating, unit 1153, the Hitachi shovel when the 11/2" hydraulic line separated from the cylinder causing an oil spill of 90 gallons to the ground in Panel E pit 51. Cleanup and control action taken: The oil spilled on the ground was cleanup with a backhoe. Effectiveness of cleanup operations: The petroleum contaminated soil was collected and placed in designated petroleum contaminated soil storage container for future permitting and shipment to the Uintah county landfill.
