Hi Doug,
I met with Corey Thurston, Westem Clay representative, at the site on May 23rd. Corey had done a lot
of work alreadyand had all of the waste removed from the pit. Corey let me know that he burned all of
the green waste last Fall and he let the County and the local fire marshal know when he did that. He had
also placed the berm around the pit last Fall as a means for keeping people from accessing the pit to
dump more material.
I have attached a few pictures of the site. You can see he has all of the tires and scrap metal separated
into piles for recycling. Those piles should be removed in the next couple of weeks. The pictures also
show that a road has been built to access the bottom of the pit. A significant amount of material had to
be pulled off of the sides of the pit to create a stable base for the excavator. None of the waste material
was buried under the access road.
Corey's plan is to fill in the pit with spoil material from their clay mining activities. That should prevent
future dumping at the site if the pit is filled in. I don't see a problem with that, but I'm not aware if
Corey has discussed that with SITLA.

I have Andy Bedingfield'scontact information and I think he has been involveo withihis for sITLA, but not sure. Let me knowwho you think we should forward this to at sITLA. And let me know if you see any problems with whatthey have done so far to clean this site up.
