Upon arriving at the facility, Allan Moore and Tina Mercer signed in and watched the appropriate safety video in order to be in compliance with Ash Grove's visitor policy. Ash Grove is a registered waste tire recycling facility and our point of contact was Casey Mueller (Environmental Manager). We met with Jeny Rust (Plant Manager), Michelle Kraus (Plant Accountant), and Christina Dyches (Office Assistant), to discuss the new format and concerns for the State's reimbursement program. Per the Waste Tire Act, the fund can reimburse Utah waste tires, however the Department of Administrative Services facilitates the payment to Ash Grove. Ash Grove burns approximately 350 tons of coal per day with a supplement of 12-15 tons per day TDF can burn approximately 400-500 ions plr month. Ash Grove receives the waste tire recycling rebate of $50.00 per ton as an end user for the fuel from the Utah waste recycling fund. The TDF is provided by TDFI LLC.,a Utah registered waste tire recycler/transporter located in Fillmore, Utah. Ash Grove has an agreement with TDFI LLC to purchase the fuel. Mr. Mueller indicated that this past year TDFI LLC has had stable deliveries and the product is high quality. We were given a tour of the facility which includes storage area and feed system for theTDF- The feed system consists of a walking floor storage area which allows the TDF to migrate to a system of screw drives and belts, which then transfers the fuel to a hopper. The hopper feeds the pneumatic system that blows the fuel into the combustion chamber for cement production. The facility is allowed to fuel I5Vo withTDF and does have air permits with compliance points. No deficiency violations were noted from this visit.
