Anderson Director June 26, 2018 Jimmy Lay Georgia-Pacific 1051 Hawthorne Circle Madison, GA 30650 RE: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Georgia-Pacific Mill Site Landfill Dear Mr. Lay: The Georgia-Pacific Mill Site Class IIIb Landfill in Sigurd, Utah was inspected on June 6, 2018 by a representative of the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control. The assistance of David Jolley was appreciated. Regarding the piles at the mine site, Mr. Jolley indicated that pile three had been removed to the Sevier County Sage Flat Landfill, pile two is being removed to the LafargeHolcim Portland Cement Plant near Croydon, Utah and pile one, the largest of the piles, has been going to local farmers to be used as a soil amendment. The closure of the Crescent Landfill in the Georgia-Pacific Quarry was also discussed and a copy of the closure plan was given to the inspector for review by the Division. After the inspection, while driving to the Sage Flat Landfill south of GP facility, the inspector observed the large pile of gypsum material from pile one on the west side of Highway 24 on the Dastrup Farms Property. The approved operational plan allows this material to be used as a soil amendment, but not as a fill material. Please ensure that Dastrup Farms is not using the material solely to fill in the deep wash on its property, but as a soil amendment added to the ground and mixed with the native soils to enhance the growing capacity of the agricultural fields. If you have any questions, please call Doug Taylor at (801) 536-0240. Sincerely, Scott T.
