Holden Landfill
Dear Mr. Stephenson: On May 23, 2018, a representative of the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control
inspected the Holden Landfill. Rod Dastrup participated in the inspection.
The three disposal areas at the landfill were yard waste, brick and concrete and construction and demolition material. These disposal areas were orderly at the time of inspection. Burning of yard waste is allowed at the landfill. Mr. Dastrup indicated that burning usually occurs in the autumn and the fire
marshal is notified beforehand. Please ensure that burning events are adequately controlled with onsite
supervision at all times. The recyclable metal pile located south of these disposal areas is well-maintained. Signs pointing to the three general disposal areas were clearly posted. Dead animals were covered with soil within 24 hours
of disposal. Landfill records are kept in town. Site quarterly inspections were done but not recorded.
