On May 9th, 2024, the Upper Mill Hollow Spring WS001 tested positive for E. coli. On May 21st, 2024, it was confirmed that seasonal increased flows had allowed water from this spring to enter the distribution system. On May 21, a valve was closed on Elkhorn Drive to isolate the possible contaminated water from the lower Fruitland SSD distribution system. Water samples were taken on the lower side of Fruitland SSD and submitted to the lab May 22 and May 23, 2024, the results were negative for E. coli. Fruitland SSD has diverted the spring and overflow runoff so it cannot get into the distribution system.
