NOTICE

An emergency hazardous waste permit (#UT-002-2024) has been issued to
the Tooele Army Depot - North Area in Tooele County, Utah. The Permit
authorizes the Army Depot to treat 141 compromised High Explosive 3.5-
inch Rockets via open detonation. During an inspection, the rockets were
suspended due to the possibility that unstable Cupric Azide compounds may
have formed in the fuses. The Air National Guard Explosive Ordinance Dis-
posal (EOD) determined the rockets were unsafe to store or transport. Ulti-
mately, EOD determined the safest means of disposal would be to detonate
the rockets near the storage igloo.
This Permit was effective February 12, 2024, and expires March 1, 2024.
