Dear Mr. Hansen,
ln accordance with condition 1.Q.9 of Clean Harbors Aragonite's (CHA) State RCRA Permit,
this correspondence serves as written notification of a thermal relief vent opening. The thermal
relief vent opening occurred on March 3.2024.
On March 3, 2024, at approximately 4: 15 AM, the facility experienced a power outage. This
caused a buildup of pressure in the system and the control board operator activated the trip
switch to open the thermal relief vent at approximately 4:17 AM. No waste was fed during the
time the thermal relief vent was open. Once power was restored. the thermal relief vent was
closed at approximately 4:20 AM. It was open for approximately 2 minutes and 57 seconds.
CHA has notified Rocky Mountain Power of the incident and is awaiting a response on the
cause.
