Groundwater samples collected during the underground storage tank (UST) removal in March 2023 exceeded Tier 1 levels. Approximately 54,000 gallons of groundwater were removed and treated during the expansion of the tank basin and installation of new USTs. Observation/monitoring wells were installed at each end of the new tank basin. Figure 1 is a site map showing sample locations. Groundwater samples were collected from each monitoring well using a disposable bailer. Each groundwater sample was immediately placed on ice and retained under chain-of-custody documentation until relinquished to the laboratory. Samples were submitted for analysis of MTBE, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes, naphthalene (MBTEXN) and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) - gasoline range organics (GRO) using EPA Method 8260 and TPH-diesel range organics (DRO) using EPA Method 8015. Laboratory reports are attached. A summary of historical groundwater laboratory analytical data is presented in Table 1. No hydrocarbons were detected in either sample collected on October 25, 2023.
