Director February 13, 2024 Vickie B Houston Sigurd Town Water System PO BOX 570064 Sigurd, UT 84657 Subject: Notice of Decreased Monitoring for Sigurd Town Water System; UTAH21016 Vickie B Houston: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, Sigurd Town Water System has completed the initial four quarters of radionuclide monitoring on Town Well #3 (identified as WS010). The average of these results is used to determine the routine monitoring frequency moving forward. Over the past year, the average levels of Gross Alpha Particle Activity were 11 pCi/L, while the average levels of Combined Radium were 1 pCi/L. These results qualify for reduced monitoring under R309-205-7. A Gross Alpha Particle Activity sample is now expected once every three years beginning in 2026, and a Combined Radium sample is now expected once every six years beginning in 2029. Additionally, the Town Well #3 (WS010) has sufficient data to conclude that it has Arsenic levels reliably and consistently below the maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 0.010 mg/L. The quarterly requirement has been reduced back to one sample every three years and will be fulfilled through the Inorganics and Metals sampling conducted at the same frequency.
