Subject: Notice of Source Reactivation, Increased Monitoring Requirements for
Smithfield Hog Rocky Mtn-Blue Mtn South; UTAH11066
Matthew Robinson:
On January 24, 2024, after submitting the samples required under R309-205, you notified the
Division of Drinking Water (the Division) that the Blue Mtn South Well 3 (identified as WS003)
had been reactivated. This changes the monitoring requirements for this water system.
To account for the increased loads of Arsenic filtered through the systems thirteen point of use
(POU) devices, one Arsenic sample, analyzed by a certified laboratory, will be expected from
one POU device per month. Please rotate these monthly samples through six different POU
devices. After six months, this requirement can be reduced back to 2 Arsenic samples analyzed
by a certified laboratory per year. Once this requirement has been fulfilled, please notify David
Kruse at 385-566-7789 or [e-mail].
Additionally, please continue to take surrogate Arsenic samples as specified in the operating
permit for the POU devices.
The updated monitoring requirements are reflected in the table below, and are available to view
anytime at your systems monitoring page on waterlink.utah.gov.
