Director February 13, 2024 Chad Limb Beaver City Water System BOX 271 Beaver, UT 84713 Subject: Notice of Decreased Monitoring for Beaver City Water System; UTAH01001 Chad Limb: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, Beaver City Water System has completed the initial four quarters of radionuclide monitoring on Bear Canyon Spring (identified as WS024). The average of the radionuclide results is used to determine the routine monitoring frequency moving forward. Over the past year, the average levels of Gross Alpha Particle Activity were 2.6 pCi/L, while the average levels of Combined Radium were 3 pCi/L. These results qualify for reduced monitoring under R309-205-7. Beginning in 2026, A Gross Alpha Particle Activity sample is now expected once every six years, and a Combined Radium sample is now expected once every three years. Additionally, the Bear Canyon Spring (WS024) has sufficient data to conclude that it has Xylene levels reliably and consistently below the maximum contaminant level (MCL) of 10 mg/L. Xylenes have not been detected in the Bear Canyon Spring (WS024) since 2022. This quarterly requirement has been reduced back to one sample every year and will be fulfilled through the yearly Volatile Organic sample requirement.
