Shelley Executive Director DIVISION OF DRINKING WATER Tim Davis Director November 21, 2023 John O’Brien Summit County Service Area #3 629 Parkway Dr Park City, UT 84098 Subject: Notice of Increased Monitoring for Summit County Service Area #3, UTAH22105 John O’Brien: According to the Division of Drinking Water’s (the Division) records, the District Well (listed as WS001 in the Divisions database) detected Gross Alpha Particle Activity at levels of 25 pCi/L on August 18, 2023. The Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for this contaminant is 15 pCi/L. As a result of this, this source is now subject to increased monitoring in accordance with R309-205- 7(c)(v). Compliance with the Gross Alpha Particle Activity MCL will be determined by the Running Annual Average (RAA) of the samples collected at the District Well (WS001). If at any point the RAA is greater than 15 pCi/L, a MCL violation will be issued, and public notice will be required. The District Well (WS001) is now required to be sampled each calendar quarter that the facility is running for Radium 226, Radium-228, Gross Alpha Particle Activity, and Combined Uranium. Presented below are the complete monitoring requirements for this facility.
